ORCs to take up new technological challenges

OSEO has granted Enertime with financial support to develop an ORC designed to produce power from the exhaust heat rejected by fuel engines on a commercial ship.

The biggest issues are a low thermal power available and the complex integration of a system on a ship. However, we believe that the significant increase of heavy fuel prices and energy costs on ships combined with an increasingly constraining regulatory context on emissions, will encourage ship owners and operators to invest in solutions for alternative power production and energy efficiency.

This is why Enertime is working on a ORC adapted to these stakes. The solution we develop will be profitable within a few years, very reliable and compact. It also needs to be easy to install without impacting the ship operation.
